All sports provide physical and other benefits for those involved in them. But soccer offers much more to help youths develop, interact with others, and just plain enjoy themselves, something kids should do, after all. Mum and dad's can interact, join in and have fun too.
One of the greatest things about soccer is that any child can kick a soccer ball and learn to do it well within a short period of time. There are no special talents required. If a boy or girl can run, he or she can do so with a soccer ball at his or her feet. Any child can gain basic skills in dribbling, passing, and kicking a soccer ball with minimal time and effort expended. This means that any child that wants to play soccer can do so and be at a level of most of the players on the field. Happy smiling faces and friendships can be made forever - both players and spectators.
This really helps build a child’s self-esteem, which can be seen in the confidence displayed on the field. Something as simple as a good pass or stopping the ball from getting to an opponent can make a child feel good about him or herself and that makes them perform even better. Happy smiling faces and cheering from the sidelines is also very rewarding. Their faces express a thousand words.
New Player Inquiries
There have been a few inquiries about joining Soccer this week. If anyone else in the committee, coaches or managers have been approached could you please refer the request to Yvonne, (preferred as the registrar), Juliet or Polly as the club must comply with the specific requirements of Football Brisbane. I would also like to clarify that interested players cannot train or play until the correct paperwork (obtained only from Yvonne) is completed and monies are paid to Venetia (Treasurer). Trying to be helpful unfortunately isn’t always being helpful and makes it more difficult for those who then have to rectify the situation!
Changes in Team Players
Recently we have had a couple of children change teams without the correct people in the committee being notified. Could I kindly ask that if you are made aware of the status of children within teams changing, please notify the following people on the committee as these changes impact on their role.
Juliet – Secretary julietocean@ymail.com
Polly – Team Liaison Officer pollybennett2@hotmail.com
Yvonne – Registrar yhandy@bigpond.com
Have a great week!
President
Dayboro & District Soccer Club
